La Cueva del Contador

Información sobre este vino:

La Cueva del Contador is a crianza red wine from the prestigious Bodega Contador, made 100% from the Tempranillo grape variety. This wine embodies the essence of the Qualified Designation of Origin Rioja, reflecting the mastery of its winemaker, Benjamín Romeo, who employs biodynamic viticulture practices to extract the best from each plot.

The grapes come from dry-farmed vineyards, with ages ranging between 35 and 55 years, located in the towns of San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Ábalos. These vineyards, planted in clay-limestone soils and subjected to diverse microclimates, bring exceptional complexity and depth to the wine. The harvest is carried out manually, with a double selection of clusters and grapes, guaranteeing the maximum quality of the grape.

After the harvest, the grapes are destemmed and fermented in 4,500-liter French oak vats, with controlled temperatures between 20 and 25 ºC for 14 days. Subsequently, the wine ages for 18 months in new French oak barrels, which gives it notable complexity and elegance. This aging process is carried out without filtration or fining, respecting the character of the terroir to the maximum.

In the glass, La Cueva del Contador presents a high-layer purple-red color, reflecting its intensity and depth. On the nose, it offers outstanding aromatic complexity, with notes of ripe red and black fruits, such as cherries and blackberries, intertwined with subtle touches of sweet spices, vanilla, and light toasted nuances from the barrel aging. On the palate, it shows itself full and structured, with silky tannins and balanced acidity, culminating in a long and persistent finish that invites you to keep savoring.

This wine is ideal for pairing with grilled red meats, game, hearty stews, and aged cheeses. Its structure and complexity make it perfect for intensely flavored dishes. It is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 14-16 ºC to fully appreciate its organoleptic qualities.

With an alcohol content of 15% vol., La Cueva del Contador is an excellent choice for those seeking a high-end wine experience, a reflection of Bodega Contador's commitment and passion for excellence.
