La Faraona
Información sobre este vino:
La Faraona is a red wine from the winery Descendientes de J. Palacios, in Bierzo, which moves with the solemnity of the great parcel wines: it does not seek a loud voice, but rather that kind of whisper that lingers in the memory. Its cult wine status does not arise from whim, but from a rare combination of altitude, hillside, slate, and an almost mystical reading of the vineyard. In this case, the label sits at the pinnacle of the house's reds, with a character of long aging and a profoundly Bierzo identity.
In its finest expression, La Faraona speaks of an aristocratic precision: ripe fruit without excess, mineral tension, the scent of low scrubland, and an inner energy that seems to run through everything like a silver thread. It is a red wine that does not impose itself through volume, but through emotional density, through the way it orders the landscape within the glass. The winery Descendientes de J. Palacios achieves here an almost alchemical balance between power and grace, between depth and verticality.
The aging classification fits better in long-aging, due to the seriousness and complexity that its aging wines usually show and their cellaring capacity. La Faraona is, in essence, a wine of great poise, elegant and piercing, closer to a precious stone polished by time than to a mere display of strength.
It comes from a unique plot in Corullón, in El Bierzo, in an environment of steep slopes and high altitude. The vineyard, with its marked personality, offers very low yields and an expression deeply tied to the slate soil, which imprints the wine with an almost telluric vibration.
