LAS GRAVAS
Información sobre este vino:
Las Gravas is a red wine from Casa Castillo, in the D.O. Jumilla, which embodies with rare elegance the dry, luminous strength of the inner Mediterranean. On this label, the winery seems to translate stone into music: a landscape of river pebbles, an unrelenting sun, and old vines turned into a wine of sober, almost aristocratic character, where the raw material rules and the artistry steps back with discretion.
Its style, generally associated with a Crianza or moderate aging in oak, reveals a refined interpretation of Monastrell, accompanied by a small contribution of Garnacha that lends it nerve, air, and a delicate sensuality. It is not an easy show-off wine, but one of depth: one of those reds that speak softly, yet leave their mark like a well-told quote, with precision, shadow, and nobility.
In the glass, Las Gravas shows the beautiful gravity of wines with soil: serious, smooth, with ripe fruit held in check by a mineral vein that gives it tension and relief. The winery Casa Castillo signs a red wine of great personality here, where maturity doesn’t weigh things down, but is refined; where warmth doesn’t overwhelm, but embraces. It is a wine of Mediterranean roundness and fine pulse, capable of combining depth, freshness, and an aristocratic sense of living stony ground.
It comes from the Las Gravas plot, in Jumilla, a vineyard with stony and poor soils, where the vine expresses itself with austerity and character. The old vines, worked in dry farming and in a warm and dry environment, force the plant to go deep in search of balance, and that struggle translates into concentration, freshness and a marked mineral imprint. The landscape of pebbles and exposed slopes imprints on the wine an almost tactile identity: stone, sun and wind turned into a liquid matter of great definition.
