Micrit Monastrell

Información sobre este vino:

Micrit Monastrell is a red wine from Casa Castillo in the D.O. Jumilla, an interpretation of Monastrell that does not seek fanfare but precision: a voice of terroir tuned like an old and noble stringed instrument. Its profile belongs to the Medium Aging category, with a sober aging process that feels more like an education than makeup, and that is perceived in the contained elegance of its expression.

The collaboration with Envínate adds a contemporary pulse to a deeply Mediterranean vine. The result is a red that speaks with a mineral accent, of well-groomed ripe fruit, dried herbs and a freshness that is almost surprising for its lineage. It is not a wine that shouts; it murmurs with authority, and much of its charm lies in that whisper.

In the glass it shows the serene dignity of wines that know their origin and need not disguise it. There is an intimate architecture, a savory tension and a texture reminiscent of the rough velvet of great sincere things. Casa Castillo signs here a Monastrell of marked identity, more about landscape than artifice, more about sand, limestone and old vines than oenological showmanship.

It comes from old Monastrell vines on their own roots, planted on calcareous soils poor in organic matter in Jumilla. That substrate stamps the wine with an expression marked by freshness, minerality and a noble Mediterranean austerity. The vine, of advanced age and with naturally contained yields, concentrates the character of the environment and translates it into more precise, less exuberant and deeper fruit.
